SCHOLASTIC

The schools academic program is based upon the CBSE curriculum. Quality education is imparted from LKG through Grade 10

EARLY PROGRAMME

The children have a busy day in school with the day well planned and structured. English, Hindi, Tamil, Maths and Themes are taught in a well defined manner. Free Choice, outdoor activity, circle time, play time, reflection time cater to a variety of learning styles – while keeping the children engaged in happy and positive ways. Assemblies, Art & Craft, Dance, Music, physical activity and field trips help children learn the values of cooperation, caring and sharing.

PRIMARY

The focus in the primary years is on creating an environment which fosters a quest for knowledge, a sensitivity towards nature as well as our heritage. We provide an environment that encourages a questioning mind and give students many avenues for expressing creativity and building skills while nurturing individual potential.

SECONDARY

At the secondary stage, apart from strengthening the students knowledge base the focus is on honing the students capacity to reason, analyse, evaluate and make decisions. Children learn through a variety of tools and techniques such as teacher instruction, activity sheets, mind mapping, group activities, discussions, experiments, workshops and seminars.

VISUAL ART

Creative activities are the building blocks of a child?s development. At School, children are taught to create and appreciate a variety of art and crafts.

PERFORMING ART

Children have exposure to dance, drama and music. These activities allow children to express themselves through a safe and positive medium.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Work education provides the basis for developing favourable work ethics and habits, imparting necessary knowledge and appropriate work skills to help children become productive and self reliant. Cookery, Crafting and computer applications skills are imparted.

READING PROGRAMME

At school we provide a reading rich environment. The reading programme is an active intervention to open up reading choices, increase readers enjoyment and offer opportunities to share reading experiences.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS

YOGA

Yoga improves mind/ body connection, encourages a fit and healthy life style and promotes an overall sense of well being. Yoga practice boosts self confidence, by allowing children to feel more comfortable with who they are inside. A child who learns yoga will be developing essential skills for a lifetime of health and wellness ? in mind, body and spirit.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Physical education contributes to the physical development of the child and has a positive impact on psychosocial, mental and emotional development. Playing group games has a positive impact on a child?s self esteem, promotes better interaction among children, imparts values of cooperation and sharing. It teaches children to deal with victory and defeat.

ACTIVITIES

We at GRD school believe that every child should take part in a public performance, belong to a group that puts up a presentation or project be supported in something they are good at. This enables students to become active learners, builds confidence and positive self esteem.

WHOLE SCHOOL EVENTS

We are committed to the maxim ? ?No child left behind? and therefore ensure that all children participate in the four main whole school events. These events aim at promoting respect for culture and heritage, sportsmanship a scientific temperament and a love for reading.

ASSEMBLIES

Our School assemblies enable us to fulfill the greater responsibility of imbibing a vision, inspiring a quest for knowledge, fostering values and promoting an ethical way of life. This is done through chanting of mantras, thought provoking talks and quizzes.

TRIPS AND TOURS

Trips and tours play a vital role in moulding a child?s personality and are an essential part of a broad and balanced curriculum. Field trips, tours within and outside the country add immensely to the richness of a child?s experience.

  • With festival celebrations children understand diversity and are able to accept customs and traditions of the other regions, religions and countries. They are occasions of happiness and joyfulness.

  • ASSESSMENT
  • Assessments aid students learning and teachers teaching
    Students are assessed in both scholastic and co-scholastic areas.

  • SCHOLASTIC AREAS
  • Subject enrichment activities like ASL, debates, Lab activities, Map work, Model making, Field trips, Assignments, Projects, Quizzes, Class Activities and Tests are tools that will assess the students continuous learning.

  • Periodic tests will be conducted thrice a year including portions cumulatively.
  • Annual examination will be conducted at the end of the year.
  • Final result will comprise the marks of annual examination (80 marks) and Internal Assessment (20 marks).
  • Internal Assessment will comprise of subject enrichment activities & periodic tests.
  • For scholastic areas students will be graded on a point scale.
  • Co-scholastic activities will be assessed on a 5 point scale.
