G R Damodaran Academy of Management provides a “Generic MBA” program on a full-time basis. The MBA normally provides comprehensive knowledge in the field of Management. An MBA involves plenty of case studies, class contribution, networking, communication skills and teamwork. The program is offered full time with a dual specialization system. It will suit someone who wants to develop general managerial skills and acquire broad-based industry knowledge with a dual specialization based on their interest. But the smarter generation is opting for a specialized MBA that offers an edge over others in a specific field or industry.
The MBA curriculum is delivered in four semesters scheduled in two academic years. The academic year commences during July. Regular classes are held between 9:30 a.m. and 04:30 p.m. from Monday to Saturday.
While the first year provides a solid footing to the students in the basics of business and its related disciplines, the second year offers MBA students the opportunity to specialize in a field of their choice from among Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, Logistics Management, Operations Management, Systems, Health care, Media relations etc., A Specialized MBA provides in-depth subject knowledge with a practical approach resulting in a graduate who is job-ready.
Although the MBA programs are based on the framework of the University syllabus and examination requirements, the coursework at the Academy seeks to go beyond textbook-based rote learning and set exercises, to become an exciting and rewarding learning adventure which would help internalize the principles and skills learned and develop the behaviour, attitudes and intellectual abilities appropriate for professional effectiveness in management.
Out of classroom
Apart from the classroom learning, every student of the GRDAM is provided with the Learning opportunities like assignments, seminars, workshops, guest lectures, industrial visits (Within India and Abroad) simulation Games, case studies, role plays etc. These are topped off by intensive exposure to the demands of real-life business situations and problems through projects and other interactions with the corporate businesses and consultants.
Outbound Training
In order to develop their skills, the students are provided with the opportunities to take part in the boot camp and Outbound Training camps which enable the Management students in management games, adventure challenges, team building activities, goal-setting exercises, personality grooming sessions, reality simulations etc.,
Industry Visits and Guest lectures
Frequent lectures by top managers and consultants are arranged. The thriving entrepreneurial and industrial culture of Coimbatore provides an enriching ambiance for student development. Periodic visits to the industrial establishments at Coimbatore and in major cities like Chennai, Bangalore and Kochi enable students to have a feel of more complex real-life business situations.
